AFROCABARET III presents 'New Folks In Town'

For the third time AfroCabaret returned with it's third event dubbed “New Folks In Town”. Dedicated to young mothers and young fathers, this edition gave our dads the option of a DAPPER PAMPER and our moms a DIVA PAMPER. They could receive options of a face beat, manicure, pedicure, and various massage options provided by Oasis Spa Point.

With my typical walk-through, experiential style events I was determined to make the event as interactive as possible to get to this unique crowd.

Some of the things to do were: join the salsa dancing lesson led by Dance Factory Kenya's MARION MUNGA, attend a workshop led by radio personality LYNDA NYANGWESO, get your caricature done by live artist NADDYA OLUOCH-OLUNYA, enjoy sultry performances by JULES FOX and RUBY as you sample specially curated wines and cheeses platters by RAKA and DOUBLE TOT. Lastly, from the conversations held during the workshops, you could create content for an interactive devise experimental theater piece at the close of the night, directed by ANNE JENSEN and performed by BRIAN OGOLA and KAGENDO KAECHA. Truly a uniquely curated event!

The second AfroCabaret took us on a nostagic journey featuring covers of your favorite classic, nostalgic Broadway songs from the Mouse House, aka Disney. The show took the audience on a journey through adventure, friendship, belonging, and of course love that is ever present in Disney's works.

AfroCabaret launched with a brand new musical read and sing-through. The show name: Kabu.

Kabu (2016) is the first complete musical I have composed. Having produced, written, and directed my last full length play over 6 years prior, I decided it was time I put my composing to use as well. This 70 page burst of energy, adventure, and heart-felt moments are a must buy. Set in the fictional land of Kabu, this script follows several characters negotiate as a long lost secret about Kabu is unveiled. What will they do?

The evening featured the songs and script of this family friendly musical.
